Google Earth

http://earth.google.com/

Fantastic bit of software. Fun to play around on and excellent if you happen to need directions anywhere.

Would recommend broadband and DirectX compatible graphics card.

I have to admit, small, rural areas arne't amazing. Think of urban areas that you have been to on holidays, such as San Francisco or Los Angeles and you'll have much fun.
