I kinda grew out of my techno phase quite a few years back. Can anyone recommend anything good and new in electronica?

The Birthday Massacre have electronica elements to their music, mixed in with pop and hard rock.

If you wanna check em out they have an MP3.com page, or the link to their site is in my sig.

I'm mainly into hard rock music, and classic rock. I do listen to some rap, but mainly stuff on MTV. I like some classical stuff too, but not all of its bearable. As far as techo/trance goes, I'll listen to trance occasionally when playing Quake3, but other wise you won't catch me listening to it. Country is alright..Not a big fan of punk though.

Easyrider: you got it down!! Old school rules! Even some more modern stuff is cool, Run DMC, Outkast, Too $hort, Alkoholiks...

Seriously Mat L, I've said it before, you gotta broaden your horizons. You can't throw a whole genre down the drain becasue you hear some no talent punk like Ja Rule or Jay Z, rapping about how well they rap, how much money they have or how many whores they banged last night.

heh its all that pimping nigger whore shit these days, people need to calm down a bit lol.

Yeah its a shame people get put off hip hop so fast cause of the bad arse attitude which goes with it when ur listening to 50 cent, Ja Rule, etc/

though if u want a tune by a bad arse rapper which actually means something have a look at Nas - I can
I'm not a Nas fan but the rap in this is something to admire..

Sometimes you can enjoy hiphop just for the beatz. Take any member of the Scratch Pikelz (sp?), Mixmaster Mike, DJ Q-Bert, the X-cutioners and show me any 49cent rapper who can match beats with them.

Busta Rhymes tends to whip out some awesome shit and in "Break ya neck" the speed is something to shout about!

I think a lot of the stuff which you mentioned is coming from artists who are heard regularly so this kinda stereotypes the other rappers who don't rap up in your face.

As a fan of most rap I just think that rapping has picked up a bad image mostly which isn't true. Alot of the artists are really talented in what they do.

Andon another note, i'm sure you listen to christian rock/.metal wthout knowing it. Take One Minute Silence or Ill Nino or Soulfly for example? Theyre all heavily christian influenced, not that they look it

hip-hop should be about blunts, bitches and fast cars. it's more fun. to ween yourself onto this genre, try listening to the fugees, or cypress hill.
