Hey there,
My girlfriend and I will be visiting Toronto next weekend. We're from Central Ohio. We're both very into music, art, clothing, among
other things. Any places that you suggest we visit?
Music stores that sell used/hard to find CDs, vintage clothing stores/thrift stores, art centers, ect would all be great. I've heard that The
Livid's guitarist works at a music store? What's the name of this store and where is it located? I'd love to stop by and check it
out. Maybe buy a new guitar.
Oh, and anyone know the name of Alex Lifeson's (guitarist for Rush) restuarant and the location? I'm interested in going there as
well.
Thanks a lot!

Oh, and also! I'm very into photography. Know of any locations I should visit and photograph?
Here are a few examples of my work:
First picture in the last group is entirely unedited, mind you. Second picture (in same group), I was toying with the idea of having the focus on a
stationary object (this case, a person) with movement in the background. Unfortunately there wasn't much traffic while we were out there, and
the lighting was sort of "eh." I'm going to try this again another night.

Your work is pretty impressive. The work with people/a person in it makes me really think what they're doing there/how they got there.
Anywho... Toronto is a very multi cultural place with lot's of history. Just walking around, you'd find lots of places to take pictures.
The CN Tower, Skydome, Wonderland are all awesome places to visit. There is an old castle that you can tour through as well. That'd be a cool
picture.
Good luck man!
one last show.

i believe your talking about no strings attatched. Christian, the old bassist from the band, works there. you will have to ask someone else for
directions tho
How do you communicate those emotions that are so intense that no physical expression or series of words can even scratch the surface?

Hey you, I guess you can check that other thread I linked you to last time...there's some pointers on what to do and where to go.
My personal Vintage clothing favourites are located at Queen Street (Downtown Toronto) There's some good ones along Bloor as well.
Here's the info for StringsAttached, where Christian [along with his father and brother,I believe] can be found.
Strings Attached Music Shop
1 Main St. - Streetsville
L5M 1X4
Tel: (905) 812-0101
Email: music@stringsattachedmusic.com
Strings Attached Music Shop is located at 1 Main Street, (southeast corner) Streetsville, (Mississauga) Ontario Canada.
From Toronto, take highway 401 West, exit Mississauga road/Erin Mills Parkway and turn left (south). 3 lights up you'll make a left at
Mississauga Road. Take Mississauga Road, cross over Britannia into Streetsville. (Mississauga Road turns into Queen Street when in Streetsville). Then
turn left on Main. We are the first store on the right at 1 Main Street. 5 to 10 minutes maximum travel time from the 401.
From Hamilton/Oakville area take the Q.E.W. eastbound to Highway 403 Eastbound. Exit at Erin Mills Parkway. Turn left (north) at Erin Mills. Turn
right (east) on Eglington. Turn left (north) on Mississauga Road. Second set of lights turn right (east) at Main Street. We are the first store on the
right at 1 Main Street.
There you go, any other information you want about the shop and their products might be found at www.stringsattachedmusic.com
Hope that helped!
There's tons of stuff going on soon, like festivals and whatnot. I'm not sure what will actually fall into your schedule, but
there's always something to do.
And, you can go back to Ohio and said "I did Toronto"
Speaking of which, it wouldn't hurt to check out www.toronto.com for any info on restaurants, clubs, attractions and whatnot.
Will you have any time to visit Niagara Falls? That's something else you could consider...
Anyway, should there be anything else..just PM me. I'd be more than glad to help out.

On your way up you really have to stop in Niagara Falls for a couple hours. Other than parking (if you choose to park in a pay lot), you wont have to
pay for anything.
I was at a wedding yesterday in Toronto and it was a little North of Spadina and there was a really cool looking castle place and a really beautiful
building with a stunning garden right next to it. There were alot of people wandering the place and taking pictures.
btw, this thread should probably be moved to the 'unrelated' section.

sounds like the hart house on the u of t campus.
ps. spadina runs north/south. if we're thinking of the same place it's around [just north] bloor on spadina
Amid the chaos of that day, when all I could hear was the thunder of gunshots, and all I could smell was the violence in the air, I look back and am
amazed that my thoughts were so clear and true, that three words went through my mind endlessly, repeating themselves like a broken record:
you're so cool, you're so cool, you're so cool. And sometimes Clarence asks me what I would have done if he had died, if that bullet
had been two inches more to the left. To this, I always smile, as if I'm not going to satisfy him with a response. But I always do. I tell him
of how I would want to die, but that the anguish and the want of death would fade like the stars at dawn, and that things would be much as they are
now. Perhaps. Except maybe I wouldn't have named our son Elvis.

We more than likely will stop at Niagra Falls on our way there. I was just there a few months ago while my band was on tour. I definitely want to
stop at this restaurant called The Atrium in the Ramada hotel there. My band ate there while staying in the hotel and the food was so great. Nice
people, too.
The cook (his name is Yoda, seriously) came up to us and was like, "You guys are in a band, aren't ya?!?!" Us, "Yeah..."
Yoda, "I knew it! I just knew it! When you pulled in with your SUV and trailer and got out, I thought 'yep, them fellers are a
band!'" We talked to him for a bit, he bought one of our CDs, had us sign it. It was fun. I guess the last band he cooked for was the
Goo Goo Dolls.

How is the restaurant The Orbit Room? I guess Alex Lifeson (guitarist for Rush) co-owns it. Being a huge Rush fan, I'd like to check it out.
Also, any other places of interest that relate to Rush at all?

Isn't Rush part of some sort of walk of fame in Toronto?
We're looking for a really nice restaurant to eat at Friday evening, perhaps a place where we could dress up a bit... and then afterwards,
we'd like to go to a club with a DJ... dancing... loud music... perhaps drinks?
Also, are the clubs 19+ only?
Suggestions?
Thanks!

Hey,
I just happened to be in Streetsville today so I dropped by Strnigs Attached..
Christian wasn't in today (the 10th) but according to schedule he will be in the 12th,13th and 14th...so if you end up going to see
him...he'll be there.
Best of luck, for sure let us know if you need any other info.

TONNES of 19+ clubs. I've never been to The Docks, but it's a club/bar/resturant/water fun place. It should be fun for a less serious
night.
Otherwise Gretzky's always has good food... I guess it's too casual though.

Most clubs ARE 19+, and I would strongly suggest not to visit an all-ages venue like Club108....
If you want, message "mr. dobalina", I'm sure he wouldn't mind giving you some pointers about Toronto's nightlife.
I have some suggestions for dinner, but it's all a matter of what your budget is, and where you want this (downtown?)...just PM me.

do you prefer bars? clubs?
what type of price ranges are you looking to operate within?
[and other such questions important to giving suggestions........]

I'll make it quick... the castle you're looking for is Casa Loma at Spadina and Davenport. $12 to get in.
Friday night dinner and jazz at the Reservoir Lounge http://www.reservoirlounge.com/index2.html and across the street to C'est What, Down One,
and the Esplande Bier Market for all your clubbing needs.
can I find my faults // leave them and start // to find myself?

I'm 20, my girlfriend is 18.
Rock, jazz, avant-garde, atmospheric, ect. We're both very open minded. I enjoy anything sincere and artistly sound.
Clubs. DJ, dancing, nice atmosphere, possibly drinks as well.
As for price ranges, dinner-wise, I'd like to spend around or below $75 (US dollar, not certain what it'd be Canadian) for the two of us.

One last question before I leave for the trip:
Will we be able to withdrawal money from our US bank checking accounts while in Canada? Or should we withdrawal all of the cash we intend on carrying
and have it exchanged at the hotel?
