i read pretty much everything on these boards, and definitely the first post of each new topic. and if i hadn't clicked on this topic i wouldn't have seen your post. when you look at a new topic you don't skip to the second post and start there. so what i'm saying is your post was utterly useless!

i have no idea. already spoke to jenny about it on msn.

yeah turned out that the videos which are on VCDs (which is where this came from) are mpeg files but it doesn't tell you that.

well the whole point in compressed video like windows media, mpeg, quicktime etc is that... well they're compressed. so zipping them won't do much more. they're pretty much as small as they'll get. it's possible to make them smaller by reducing their quality, but i have no idea what tools you'd use.

if you have a video editing program, you can import the mpgs, or wmvs or whatever, and then export them with lower quality, thus making them smaller files.

Some things take more than a lifetime.

Try virtual dub http://www.ecn.net.au/~belated/virtualdub.zip

It'll let you import the video and re-encode it to a different codec (like xvid or divx) and hopefully make it smaller for you. Hope this helps.

Bink Video

One of the many functions in this program is to make video files smaller, so you might be able to use it.
