Pick tunes that you think will convert over to acoustic well. Often the heaviest tunes don't work best acoustic.
Here are some of my suggestions:
Genesis
In Flames (They have a few tunes that are already acoustic)
A Perfect Circle
Oasis
Powderfinger
Stone Temple Pilots

^ yeah, thats a really good one.
i was suggesting something heavy, because it can turn out really well if you modify it a bit, and make up some of your own riffs to fit the song. the
best example of this is "A Certain Shade Of Green" by incubus. I'm sure that you guys (Chris and Bart) have heard the album version.
listen to that, and then download the acoustic version. the guitar in the acoustic version doesnt even resemble that of the original, yet it fits
perfectly, and it is brilliant. "Pardon Me" is another really good example.
One other heavy(ish) (well it's not really heavy, but it has a cool riff) is
"Hey Johnny Park!" by the Foo Fighters.
but that may be more work than you are looking for, so i would suggest checking out "Pray Your Gods", and "Whatever I Fear" by
Toad The Wet Sprocket. they are both great softer songs that are already semi-acoustic. "Big Empty" by Stone Temple Pilots would be really
cool too.
ok thats my 2 cents.

before i started this thread, "tremendous" and i had come up with 20-something songs we're considering, but thought we'd see
what the rest of you could come up with. "pardon me" was first on the list - having already done a "lounge" version for a
music technology project, it was the obvious starter!

Oh, I almost forgot this. You ABSOLUTELY MUST do the lounge version of Down with the sickness by Disturbed. It's by a parody guy named Frank
Cheese.

do an acoustic version of "hooker with a penis" or "forty-six and two" by TOOL.
Amid the chaos of that day, when all I could hear was the thunder of gunshots, and all I could smell was the violence in the air, I look back and am
amazed that my thoughts were so clear and true, that three words went through my mind endlessly, repeating themselves like a broken record:
you're so cool, you're so cool, you're so cool. And sometimes Clarence asks me what I would have done if he had died, if that bullet
had been two inches more to the left. To this, I always smile, as if I'm not going to satisfy him with a response. But I always do. I tell him
of how I would want to die, but that the anguish and the want of death would fade like the stars at dawn, and that things would be much as they are
now. Perhaps. Except maybe I wouldn't have named our son Elvis.

how's this project going? i'd be interested to hear what you guys come up with...
I'm actually working on a series of acoustic incubus songs on my own right now, and what i've got so far is pretty good. maybe i'll
post some when im done.
im going with Pardon Me, Circles, Wish You Were Here, Make Yourself, Drive, Vitamin, A Certain Shade of Green, and Are You In along with bits of Sick
Sad Little World, Nice to Know You, and Version. any suggestions on what of the above not to do/any other songs i should do?

i'm not sure that circles, are you in and vitamin would work acoustically, or at least not with a lot of modification. never heard wish you were
here or sick sad little world done acoustically but i'm sure they'll work. 11am and just a phase are great acoustically. also i miss you,
stellar, clean, the warmth and mexico.
as for our acoustic thing, it didn't happen because we're horribly unorganised. maybe in the summer. hope so.
