Veterans Going Indie

Hello Freedom for Vets 54-40

Found this article. Found it quite interesting. Usually its the other way around where a band starts out independent and works towards a label.

For the uninitiated, 54-40 is one of Canada's greatest unrecognized talents. Never having even won a Juno, they still manage to attract hoardes of followers to their shows. Most people will be familiar with Hootie and the Blowfish's cover of I Go Blind.

I think it just goes to show that you always get a lot more done when you do it on your own with nobody in your way.

This is just my opinion and I'm not trying to put your post down in any way. But many people also consider 54-40 to be absolutely horrible.

There have been whisperings of Our Lady Peace going indie too. Maybe bands are finally starting to realize that big money-grubbing labels aren't necessarily in the biz for the music.
