just listened to release and...

To any band members reading know that I have the upmost respect for you guys, I love what you've done. That said the latest two songs by the livid I have heard worry me a little. Both Sink and Release seem to have lost the edge Livid had. I love Shaded so I can't blame justin, but maybe it is just a different style the band is trying out. Not every song has to be as hard as "In Your Face" but the lyrics in the new songs seem forced. They don't flow with the music as well as previous songs did and no longer seem quite so ... hmmm.... livid, lol (I looked the word up).

'Release' is only a demo - the final version is being recorded, aswell as some new stuff, which is apparently slightly heavier than most of their other material.

I'm sure it's going to kick ass.

Not a whole lot of people are into the Nu-Metal shit but anyways. They've had their good and bad songs. But it's always great to hear an acoustic track like Release. Surely all of us would love to hear another track like "The Neural Is Me" or "Step Up"... but all their songs are great. Can't wait til hear "To You".

Shame, shame on you bro. Not everyone likes the hard stuff like The Neurel is Me or Egzit. Some like softer, slower stuff like Sink and Shaded. Having a variety of tracks is a good thing, not a bad thing. But then again, your entitled to your opinion bro. So, welcome to the forms. And oh ya, nice pun

one last show.

To You is a chilled, soft song. The two new tracks currently being recorded, the names of which have slipped my mind again, are going to be heavier. Sparks - you said the lyrics in the newer songs seem forced but I quite disagree. Since I discovered the meaning of Shaded and listened to the lyrics more closely, I have to say that the lyrics in that song are probably the most meaningful and well written Livid lyrics I've seen (heard). What does everyone else think?

dude....

i think the whole release thing was just to get you the fans more stuff... i mean wouldn't you rather have new stuff from the livid instead of no new stuff??

as far as the new stuff... you have to expect some differences compared to the old band.. its not the same band but it will remain THE LIVID because of the song writer that brings the original concept to the table...

all in all i think that peeps gotta get behind the livid.. you guys all love different things but the bottom line is that you are all united on this page because of a respect for a band that rocks the moda fok'n house....

that my two cents

You have to expect some changes as the person who does a lot of the writing (chris) gets older and changes happen in his life etc. So many people don't understand that music evolves continually and a band never sounds the same from album to album (unless you're NOFX).

its hard to have an opinion on the meaning of the lyrics if we don't know what they mean... maybe i just need to read closer (?)

edit: i've never really read the lyrics before... now that i have, i have a vague idea of what it could be about, but I could be very wrong... like an english teacher would say there are many connotations for every word in a poem

It seems like a song that had a lot of thought put into it.

I agree shaded has great lyrics, its by far one of my favorites. Sink on the other hand, just seems to me like the music and lyrics weren't made together. Like the words were just being sung to the same rhythm as the song. I got the same feeling with release. I wouldn't even say it's a pace problem either Falling Behind is a great song it is pretty slow, it also had a great flow to it. Hopefully not to sound too mainstream here, but my problem with Release and Sink is that they just basically aren't catchy. I can sit in my car and sing along to all of live to imitate but I can't really see myself doing that with sink.

Just a little side note: people in independence, Missouri are getting forcefull exposure to the livid now, as I am blaring it daily at circuit city where I work.
