screw you guitarists, this ones for the bassists
hey fellow bass players, if there are any on this board: what's your bass gear and all.
i have an ibanez sr 305 dx bass (5 string)
with a crappy bm50 yorkville amp
this could be a place where if you want, you could put some bass tabs (if thats ok with the band) and talk about bass stuff and also about the bassist
from the livid since some of it has to be about the livid

Anyone know what the transition is like from guitar to bass? Thinking if I get even half decent on guitar by the end of the year, I'll reward
myself by learning bass.
can I find my faults // leave them and start // to find myself?

i dont know, some people say bass is easier then guitar but its 2 different things, like its harder doing chords on a bass since the strings are so
far appart. and then you have slap bassing thats not easy to do, even after playing for 2 years i still cant do it 100%.

But bass looks like a lot more fun. Bassists are always just grooving in their own zone away from everything else.

the trasition from guitar to bass isn't that bad. You just have to pick up the different techniques, and then work on your own style. Its a lot
like soloing on guitar. Bass is a lot of fun.

but then you look at a guy like Les Claypool (primus) and he's the lead in the band with the bass and the guitars hardly do anything, and it
just to show you that with your own style and lots of talent, you can brake threw different stuff.

Yeah, I play bass. I've got a Fender Bassman 200 and a crappy Casino bass, but I'm saving up for a Fender Mexican Deluxe (maybe Zone if I
save a bit more) J-Bass with actives.
I'm not too good, i've only been playing a year, but I know heaps of Chili Peppers, Tool, Metallica, Incubus, etc. I also like learning
solos but only ever get them half done (i.e Anesthesia, the Les Claypool solo, a bunch of Stu Hamm songs, etc).

For someone starting off on guitar, I must say the transition to bass was a little challenging, for more than one reason. More space between strings,
timing has to be impecible, and there alot heavier. Not to mention using your fingers can be tricky too. But after playing bass for 15 years it
becomes second nature. As for gear, I use: Fender Jazz Delux 5 string,
Peavey Firebass 700 watt head
Peavey 4x10 cab with E.V speaks.
Various effects, but not often.
soon to come: Lakland 5 string, and full ampeg rig

Oooh, Ampeg! That's what I'm saving for, it'll probably set me back about 7 grand for the setup I want. Oh, and I didn't end
up getting a Fender, since crashing my car docked my funds somewhat. I have an Ibanez SR400 now, which works a dream for me.

Woah, Stingrays are mad basses. They're one of those basses I picture myself getting when I'm incredibly rich and have like 700 of the
things.

Maybe I'm thinking of something else then, but I could have sworn they were in the 4-5000 dollar region. Oh well, ignore me then.
