MP3.com question
How's if going? I have a couple questions about mp3.com, if someone(s) could help me that would be great.
First off, I know very little about computers, so that's why I am asking these questions. That said, does anyone know if you can post any of
your own songs free of charge, or do you have to pay? I would've imagined it would be a free service, but I have heard otherwise. If there is no
free services, is there anyway, anysite, to help me post some of my own music?
You see, I have recently rented a 4-track recorder and I have recorded a good amount of songs, and the more feedback I can get on it the better. And
feedback from people that clearly like music (and seem to have good taste) not just my Girlfriend and Mom.
Anyway, I am really giddy about this. I have never had recordings of my music and I really want some honest feedback on it. Any help, whatsover, will
be truly appreciated.

As far as I know mp3.com is free..
They get their money from adverts ..
You could make your own website and host your mp3's on there ?

I really wouldn't know where to even beging making a website. I will check as best I can on mp3.com, I guess. Thanks.
So, after some looking it seems that mp3.com isn't free anymore. Guess I'm shit outta luck.

MP3.com isn't accepting new artists for free at the moment, no. Your best course of action is to send the songs to someone you know who has a
website and ask them to put them online for you. And not me, sorry.

Thanks for the info guys. Well, I don't really know you, Bart. So, of course, I would ask you to do something like that. I searched around and
couldn't find any free service that would do such a thing. Not like I really know where to look. Turns out my brother says it's quite
simple (for him) to make a website for me and put the songs on there. It's hard to hold him to anything, but if this is true and he can do it,
that would be superb. Now all I need is for people to listen...

I have a friend who put a song on an angelfire.com website. It's definitely do-able... don't ask me how though.

Well I fucking did it. Thanks for the info Rob, with the help of my brother I got it together. I hope it works, this is the link
www.angelfire.com/music5/solos for the love it better work.
Maybe if I made another topic more people may give me a chance..but that's ok. I certainly don't want to push it on anybody, I just want
some honest feedback.
Keeping in mind of course: I know nothing technical about music, I have never taken a guitar lesson or music lesson for that matter (small private
schools don't have music classes), alot of these songs were mixed pretty bad by a guy who has never touched a recording device (me). Oh ya, I
had to re-record all the songs in Mono so that the files would be small enough to fit on the 20 MB page they gave me, so a few of the songs may not
sound quite how they do in stereo (especially the P and C song which somehow didn't rerecord the main chugging riff that really makes it sound
kinda cool, now it's really just noise).
So all of these songs are written by me..no plagarism at all..and they are horribly named, I know. Except emotion sickness which is a silverchair
cover that I threw in because the song I wrote for my girlfriend couldn't be added on the site for some reason.
Oh ya, I thought I would try and add a picture of myself that I just took on a computer camera, but I'm thinking that because it saved as a jpg
and angelfire only accepts gif's that that's why it didn't work. Maybe there's a way, I dunno.
Thanks to anyone who listens it means alot to me

It's sort of hard to judge the songs as is, I think. Were you planning to have vocals, or play them as a band ever? I think the recordings are
cleary not professional quality, but also better than I did when I first started! Some good riffs, though... I don't remember the song names.
The biggest recording quality issue is probably the distortion tone in my opinion. Guitar distortion is damn hard to record. But yeah, I think their
is certainly some good ideas there, I'd like to hear these songs when they're a little more polished, (maybe with a few more instruments?)
And now I have to go listen to Neon Ballroom. I was over my NB binge, but listening to your emotion sickness cover was like giving whiskey to a
recovering alcholic.

cool man, I appreciate it. The quality is obviously pretty shitty, I don't have very good stuff. But what I do know is that at least a few of
the songs are quite complex and unnatural, which is exactly what I want. This is all a first time effort, and I know if they were proffesionally
polished, they would sound 10 times better, it helps if you can see around the bad quality and just listen to the music.
Emotion sickness is great..the reason why the ending was cut short was because the tape ran out and I only had enough room for 10 seconds or so. I
also have a cover of orion by metallica that I had no room to put on the site.
