i've been reading the Slipknot forum for the last hour and it seems like over half of the people on their hate them because they say this new album is a sell-out album.

Of course, because wearing masks on stage and running around beating the shit out of one another instead of actually playing instruments is what all bands that are "about the music" do.

Slipknot = shit.

The night's as hot as hell. It's a lousy room in a lousy part of a lousy town - I'm staring at a goddess. She's telling me she wants me. I'm not going to waste one more minute wondering how I've gotten this lucky. She smells like angels ought to smell, the perfect woman... the Goddess. Goldie. She says her name is Goldie.

That happens all the time. Whenever a band tries something new, the older fans will chastise them for "selling out". It's like a part of creating music now. That being said, I still stand by my St Anger opinion, but that has nothing to do with selling out, it's got to do with a band being too fucking lazy to actually put any effort into a cd and just chuck it out there claiming to be "back to their roots" when everything that was good about the older stuff has been stripped completely.

Now I'm angry, grr.

I found out about a band called Laconia about a week ago through the lead singer posting some tracks on a board, they're very cool - especially the song "Prophecy", by far the catchiest one.

since you've named two of the trinity, why not toss in At the Drive-In....

Amid the chaos of that day, when all I could hear was the thunder of gunshots, and all I could smell was the violence in the air, I look back and am amazed that my thoughts were so clear and true, that three words went through my mind endlessly, repeating themselves like a broken record: you're so cool, you're so cool, you're so cool. And sometimes Clarence asks me what I would have done if he had died, if that bullet had been two inches more to the left. To this, I always smile, as if I'm not going to satisfy him with a response. But I always do. I tell him of how I would want to die, but that the anguish and the want of death would fade like the stars at dawn, and that things would be much as they are now. Perhaps. Except maybe I wouldn't have named our son Elvis.

now correct me if i'm wrong, but i always thought "selling out" was creating music which is exactly what the millions want to buy (i mean making music for sales rather than making music for the sake of the music), whether that means making music exactly the same as their previous album or changing completely. in my opinion, fans just call it "selling out" when they are disappointed with a new record.
i haven't heard enough slipknot to decide anything about this new direction they've taken though.

Muse player.

Muse has finished their summer touring duties with the Curiosa Festival but that doesn't mean you shouldn't check out their new track Hysteria at the player here http://www.bandbuilder.com/muse/index.php?ref_code=D51713 .

Another Kick @$$ Band !

The Used is an amazing band live and when you listen to their recorded stuff. If their new cd 'In Love And Death' to be released on September 28th is anything like their old one it'll be amazing so check out a clip of the first single "Take It Away" over on the band's official site (http://www.theused.net). If you like what you hear, keep going to the site for updates and maybe even go out and buy the cd, September 28th.

If you like Something Corporate or any kind of piano rock you should check out a band called The Midway State.

www.midwaystate.com

We're organizing a show with them Sept. 2nd. Should be good times.
