Christmas...

I know there is still a few weeks until, but I am totally feeling it creeping up real fast. The malls are jam packed with hungry shoppers, and the decorations and lights are coming out in full force.

I personally love this time of year. I get just like a kid again and anticipate all the good things that will come. It's certainly not all good, though. If you want to see the most negative side just go to the mall and see all the crazy, grumpy shoppers. People always get frantic, like they only have 10 minutes left to buy everything. I love to shop on christmas, but I can't stand the people. Anyway, Speaking of shopping, has anyone begun/finished shopping? I finished most of it in October when I had more money, just to be safe. I have a huge family, plus the fiancee's family in Edmonton. But it's all done. Mostly gift certificates and shit.

Actually, since me and my girl are retarded and can't wait 3 weeks, we already have given eachother our presents. She got me: One of those new gameboys, the new GBA mario game, Tenacious D masterworks DVD and Mario Kart: DD for the gamecube. I love videogames, all right? I am not done with her, I have to wait and get the rest of her shit when the sims comes out and some new DVD's are released. I already got her a $115 hair straitener.

Does anyone like the TV specials? I personally am not really into that. I do, however, love a Garfield christmas. I have watched it every year for as long as I can remember.

Anyway, enough about me. Discuss wether you love or loathe this time of year. What you want....and so on.

CHRIS

I'm not a big fan of Christmas myself, everybody hypes it up so much, and it's the biggest anti-climax when it finally hits.

Having said that, the atmosphere is always nice this time of year, and it's good at actually spend some time with family.

I'm getting a new phone and a load of DVD's, so i'll be happy. I've not done my shopping yet, but I have bought my sister a presentation plaque including a poster and strip of film cells from an original showing of 'High Society,' one of her favourite films.

TV specials are great! Not sure whether anyone overseas is aware of a British sitcom called 'The Office,' but it's as funny as hell and they are making 2 specials for christmas.

I had to watch it in my media class earlier this year....wasn't too excited about it but it could have been ok if i wasn't in school(i think that has been talked about a few times)

I know I'm not getting anything for Xmas..so there ya go.
I bought some stuff for some people, who knows when the hell I'm giving it to them though..
All that I like about Christmas is all the different Holiday tunes and carols playing on the radio....

I'm kinda negative about Christmas, my family's had some pretty tragic stuff happen around these times, mostly deaths and illnesses though.

Shitty about that, dez. I'm sure your gonna get something for christmas. I hope you do, anyway.

Watch out, Ian. There is nothing more that describes hell like shopping last minute. Maybe some people like the craziness of it all, though.

I've been lucky enough to have grown in a family that always gets along on Christmas day, it is the best time of year for us. It's the one day we are all civil towards eachother. It does suck that the presents end so quick considering all the hours of worry that goes into getting it done.

Aw, Dez! Don't worry I will get you something for Christmas!!

I like Christmas, but I don't like the family part. I have such a dysfunctional family. Believe it or not, I am the only normal one *twitch*. .

Everyone's family is disfunctional, really. I realized that recently. There is no such thing as normal. I think the most normal thing a family can do is let all the shit out in the open instead of surpressing it, and pretending it doesn't exist. I think that is the worst and most disfunctional thing a family can do. You know that family that you think is perfect? I bet at least 50% of time that family has alot of secret's and are fucking miserable...

Ok, way off topic...but is it really spelled "dysfunctional"? I always thought that that's just the staind named their first album.

Since I am older now, we don't really do anything with the extended family anymore. It's just the 5 bros and sis's, 1 fiancee, 1 brother in law, 2 parents and my mom's husband. No lunatic cousins or grumpy aunt's and uncle's.

actually, i'm not really into the whole last minute shoping hype, somehow i manage to avoid most of the comotion. i think one thing that leads to a dysfuctional (i thought that too Chris) family, is that "no one get's along with their parents. if they did, they would live with them for the rest of their lives."

I actually get along great with my parents. I've always been able to tell them anything. And vice versa. I told my mom when I wasn't a virgin anymore and tell her about shit like that. After her honey moon we had a porno conversation in line at a store. It was kinda weird, but I think it's cool that I can talk that way with my parents.
