ok well i rode a pretty sweet trail today. actually i have ridden it millions of times before, but this time my buddy found a new singletrack downhill that was absolutely sick. there was a canyon wall on one side of the trail, and a sheer drop off on the other side 50 feet down into a creek. the trail was in perfect condition and all that too. anyway, my friend took some pics, i'll try to post them when he gets em back.

ok, so we were posing for a picture in the middle of the trail, and we were on our bikes, and my friend loses his balance. now instead of grabbing on to me like any normal person would do, he completely just jumped off his bike, fell like 20 feet and landed right in between 2 boulders. he then jumped up and ran strait into the creek. although it was a strange thing to do, he was lucky, cuz his bike landed right where he had landed. it was absolutely insane. hillarious too. i got a couple of pictures that you guys should get a kick out of.

that's my story... pretty lame, i just realized.

Haha. That guy is just pure silliness. Oh, I stole some wood from my neighbours to build a really sweet multiple-route skinny. I'll post some pictures. So far, I've got 6 planks put up... I ran out of nails.

It begins with a wide skinny, which narrows...Down a fallen tree's chute, and then I'm going to build over that tree's roots(some sort of switchback or something like that). It'll be good fun.

well think about it, if your in the middle of a race, and you gotta go, are you going to stop, and do it on the side of the road? hell no, you never make compromises, you never stop riding... ever.

Now that's friendship for yah.

Paul- you have to come down soon and we'll officially open up this new skinny I built. I enjoy it rather much. 17 boards now and still counting. It's more or less a beginner skinny, so anyone can give 'er a whirl.

Holy shit. That sucks. I'm sorry, man.
I've had many bikes stolen before, but they probably don't compare to your bike.

$2,600 US... thats $3,194.80 Canadian. that's considered grand theft.

well i do have insurance on it, but still it's just not fucking right. it was even locked, and i asked a girl who was there when it happened and she said some guy came and UNLOCKED the bike as if it was his... no bolt cutters or anything. plus it was downtown on the buisiest street in town, not like in some abandoned area.

alright, i guess i better start looking for a new bike. PIS, any suggestions?

You're lock, if made by Kryptonite was probably BIC-able. See Bike Forum. These fools simply shove a bic pen in one of the Krypto locks, figid around a bit and KABAM it pops right open. There's a video at Lock Pick

I suggest that next time, you use atleast two locks. Both should be attached through the rim and to any solid tube on the frame.

Look around on various sites that sell stuff such as E-Bay.com or .ca as well as www.pinkbike.com, maybe you'll find the creep selling it on there. It's best that you are "looking to buy it" rather than thrashing him.

Hmm as for bikes, Rocky Mountain has an awesome DH/big hit bike called the RMX. Designed by Ron Simmons himself, magazine's are calling it one of the only "basic ride DH" bikes available....Meaning that this awesome looking bike could be used for your basic trip to 7/11. She's Canadian made too, which is an added bonus!

Cannondale offers an extremely light weight, durable XC bike they call the Lefty. Probably because the front fork only has the left side shock(for weight savings and what not).

Ellsworth has come out with a huge amount of awesome 2005 bikes. The Truth has 4" of fully active front travel, with 2" stroke shock in the back. This looks like your typical XC/Endurance ride bike.

They also have the Ellsworth Dare, which is a very mean looking DH or Freeride bike. This will probably be my next big purchase.
Check out Ellsworth Bikes for their new line up.

Haro came out with a decent bike, will full disc set up and rear suspension. The front uses Manitou's Black fork, which was rated #1 by Mountain Bike Action.

No one could go wrong with Kona Coiler series. There is three models (all with 6" of travel) will go for $1599-$3499(USD).

Go check out Wheel World, or www.wheelworld.com. I'm looking at this little map thingie and it's right at the corner of Ventura Blvd and Fallbrook Ave(just north of Highway 101). Or at Sawtelle Blvd. and Washington Blvd(just north of LAX Airport, East of Interstate 405). Those are in Culver City and Woodland Hills Cali.... They have some sweet sales on full Kona bikes.

Lemme just pitch in Kenda's Nevegal tires. These babies are awesome! I bought some for my XC bike and they worked wonders. Definately an awesome trail bike tire.

Ahh I'm done here... More to come when you've checked those out.

PIS, sorry to burst your bubble, but i wasn't looking for a sales pitch, i was looking for some advice beteween buddies...

I am definately going to go with something light and XC like my blur. thinking along the lines of another blur, an epic, an S-works, or an ETSX or Slayer (rocky mountain). something along those lines. im not that hardcore when it comes to DH, and i want a bike that wont slow me down when im climbing.

Try out Stan's No Tube system...Works er like a charm.

My brother just bought some 'pine needle resistant' tubes the other day. Looked pretty hefty to me.
