Questions and MORE Questions
How about I just make a list....lets see...
1. How did the band get its first real gig? Real gig as in playing your own music for an audiance. Did you submit a demo tape or something to someone
or just got a gig by word of mouth or refrense or how?
2. Where was it? As in, what kind of place (ie, bar/club or church or something like that)
3. Just out of curiosity, for songs that are played in Eb sus4 open, I assume bass plays in standard tuning? I really wouldn't think bass would
tune to anything other than standard, except for the occational drop d.
4. When you record in the studio, do you record live as a full band or each instrument individually on separate tracks (or channels or whatever you
call them)? I would bet that for the FoF album each instrument was recorded individually. I think that would explain the instrumental version of Broke
and Crossed and how quickly the new versions of Broke and Crossed and Clear Me were produced. Although I could be wrong.
5. On average, how long did the recording process take per song. Per album?
6. How long did it take you to get paid gigs? How well do local paid gigs pay out? Just enough for bread and water? Or to maybe cover cost of
production of cds and shirts and stuff? I doubt enough to make a living off of just yet but I could be wrong.
7. Whats your favorite color?
8. Chris, where in the world did you come up with, or find or whatever, this Eb sus4 open tuning? I had never seen it before I got Egzit tabs. Anyone
I've ever talked to about it has never heard of it before.
9. (insert your own question here)
Thats all I can think of. This is just stuff I've been curious about and if any of it is something you'd rather not answer, thats fine w/
me. I know how personal fav colors are and stuff so...no pressure.
Some questions I ask out of a want for advise. Especially for a band getting started.
Anyway, thanks in advance. Muchos gracias. Arigatou. Domo. uhh....

3. i think for most songs chris plays in that tuning, the bass is drop d, each string up a semitone. but it's all different now that they have
rob, who plays a 5-string bass.
4. all seperately, multi-track. they may or may not record, as a whole band, a guide track first, but i don't know.
8. it's DADGAD tuning, up a semitone. DADGAD is pretty popular. however, i don't think chris ever realised it was this. or at least, he
didn't know what i was talking about when i said i played his songs in DADGAD rather than in his tuning.

i found these questions burried deep within the dark recesses of my belly button. it is rare that i venture in to such an uncharted territory. i have
heard many stories as a child of lint monsters who will suck your finger in and not let go...truely it is a frightening tale. but i must admit, many
fine treasures emerge from the abyss known as my bellybutton, treasures that would otherwise be lost to mankind forever had i not gathered the
strength and courage to take on the task of searching my bellybutton.

i got a Q... Chris, in The Neural Is Me, did Jeremy actually hold the "I'm gone" note for that long? it is mindblowing.

I timed that once...I don't remember how long it was now though. But I think something like 45 or 60 seconds.

Ya that's amazing vocal (insert nice sounding french-like word here)!
I'm guessing that they might've played their first gigs at their high school, and then followed those up with gigs at Masonic. Just a
guess.
one last show.

heh, i dunno what i'm thinking. after i posted that i realized how stupid that sounds. 45 secs is like really freaking long. i did time it once
and all i remember is that it seemed like some ungodly length of time.
