quotation:
Every band out there wants nothing more than to get signed to a record label and have all the perks that come with it: Radio play, distribution,
internet promotion, merch, clothing sponsorships, etc.. We here at Takeover Records recognize this and have joined forces with some of the best names
in the industry to make this a reality for one lucky band/artist.
Takeover Records, PureVolume.com, and AbsolutePunk.net would like to introduce the 'Sign My Band' contest! Here's how it works:
Takeover Records will be sharing a tent with YELLOWCARD on every date of the Warped Tour, starting June 25th. All you need to do is bring your
band's best demo CD to our tent and drop it in our 'Demo Submission Van' (pictured right).
At the end of the tour, we will pick out 10 of the best demos we receive. The 10 bands will each have one song posted on the front page of
PureVolume.com and the winner will be voted on by the public for one week.
The band/artist that gets the most votes will then be rewarded with a record release with Takeover Records and free internet promotion from
AbsolutePunk.net and PureVolume.com. The winner will also get free specialty radio promotion from JMA & Associates, a complete merch set-up
including shirts, hats, and stickers from Anomaly Ink, and finally all kinds of good stuff from Hurley! Winning band will also be guaranteed at least
one opening spot for YELLOWCARD on their 2005 tour! The 9 runners-up will all receive free stuff from Establishment Clothing!
it sounds like something they would do well at!!

Sounds awesome, I hope they can get their new stuff done by the time it needs to be in for this competition.
I know quite a few of you really like "test run" so that would be awesome if they could hand in "test run" on a demo cd.
I hope they do this, there is no harm in trying.

why would we want to enter a contest to be signed by an indie label? we get approached by indie labels all the time. as far as indie goes, we're
doing fine by ourselves. but thanks for caring. peace. oh, and 1lil, you suck.

Its not like if you win, your signed to fearless records...
even if you dont win you get excellent exposure on purevolume.com (if you are in the top 10 runners up)
I think the fans are just desperate to get their favourite band noticed and this seems like a really good idea.
Meh, I'm not in the band so I dont know.

Wondering why they haven't signed on if they've been approached by many indie labels. Rather be with Victory or The Militia Group other
than Warner.

Probably but it sounded like Adam was trying to say that The Livid doesn't want to be signed with any indie record label.

youre on the right track dude. if we are going to do this, we are going to make sure there is ample tour support. as in, we dont want to tour sleeping
in the van... touring is hard, and if you're not comfortable and if you dont have the funds, it can be a nightmare. i've done it.
a lot of the indie labels are reluctant to commit to something like that. (like a certain one in hamilton that wont name, but rhymes with chronic
bunyon). it gets expensive. thus is why we are content keeping our jobs, making our own music and recording it with our own money, and then we can do
whatever we want with it and then not blame the indie label when something doesnt go the way you've hoped. if you sign to a major, everything
pretty much becomes their call, because its their money. its a tough buisness. phew. hope this all makes sense. peace

yeah, i know exactly what you mean. a friend of mine co-runs an indie label - they are willing to do the tour organising, but a lot of the financial
backing comes directly from the bands involved.

Just curious as what someone, band member or not, would do if they were approached to sign to a rap label. I.E- Def Jam or let's say Murder
Inc.? A label is a label in the end, right?
