Well I'm glad someone reads this thread. You're very welcome Al. I heard they're gonna be playing Edgefest in September....

Marilyn Manson - Hummingbird Centre
Just got back. The show was good. Wasn't as good as his last performance though at Ozzfest.
Outside, there were no Anti-Manson protesters. Megan was really disappointed as she brought her poking umbrella just for them. The lineup outside
pretty much consisted of just goths, with a few norms (yours truly [if you can call me normal] included).
Once we got inside though, everyone sitting down was just norms. It was amazing how the crowd varied, from older dudes (and cougars), to skaters, to a
couple of Avril Lavigne *shudder* wannabes, to wannabe goths, and just your average Joe Blows.
The openers were trying way to hard to gain our respect. Endo from Miami FL, kept trying to get the cheap pop by saying "Make some noise
Toronto". It's tough to keep a crowd interested when they're only there for Manson. They played a short but heavy set.
Everyone went nuts for Manson. Played a good mix of old and new. He didn't do the Hate Anthem, but did his regular covers, all his other major
singles including Dope Show and Disposable Teens. He even did a good short rendition of It's a Small World with Mickey Ears on:yay:
Twiggy was missed, but there was a guy in the crowd dressed exactly like him. Stage setup, IMO was nothing spectacular. Sure there was giant
inflatable head and two body-suit-wearing-hoes being sexually exploited but because of the venue it lacked his excellent lighting and pyro effects.
A good time had nonetheless. He is a definately a showman to check out at least once.

Back from another hiatus. Quick recap of shows since July:
Cheap Suits and Johnny James August 26th: 2 observations. 1) Gotta get in to ska, its tons of fun 2) Dudes should not take it all of in front of other
dudes
Blankface, Walkers Line, Petit Project, Idle Sons, Bif Naked September 2nd: I would've paid 100 times what I paid to see that show again.
Excellent performances by all bands (cept Bif, didn't see much of her). Pics
here.
Dave Matthews September 3rd: Dave is the man, but so is Boyd Tinsley. Ever seen anyone hook up their violin to a wah-wah pedal?!
Finally Fuel tonite. Really good show. Not diggin' their new stuff as much. Well worth the $15 ticket price. Not a packed house, but there
wasn't much hype surrounding this show. Bed time...

Holly McNarland DVD Shoot
Holly McNarland is an excellent performer and terrific person to meet.
Last night she played a concert at the Great Hall in Toronto. The entire performance was recorded for her upcoming DVD. I've seen her 3 times
before and this was by far her best showing. Her home is definately in front of larger crowds which is I think the first couple of times I saw her, I
was diappointed.
Spectacular lighting and a great setlist made the show complete. Kevin Fox (bassist for Danny Michel) was on hand to marvel us with his cello on a few
songs.
Some highlights were what we probably won't see on the DVD, such as Holly stopping a song because she wanted to take off her boots (she stole my
idea), and when she returned at the end becaues she forgot to introduce her drummer.
The openers were Turn off the Stars, a Toronto based band that I had never heard of. They seemed to know what they were doing as they had a great
stage presence and a lot of confidence in their pop-alt-rock songs. I'll probably check them out next time they're in town.
