How do you communicate those emotions that are so intense that no physical expression or series of words can even scratch the surface?

At no other time of the year is there such a division between the unfortunate and the priveleged, and what's worse this is widely forgotten. It
makes me sick.
Also, why the fuck do we even celebrate Christmas in countries where religion is in the minority? (i'm looking mainly at UK here). Christmas is
a Christian holiday but every other fucker celebrates it as an excuse to get drunk (ok, so i'm guilty of that one) and forget about their
responsibilties.
And what's the deal with presents? May aswell not bother and just spend the money you would spend on others on yourself. If everyone did that
people would get presents they like and not have to bother with Christmas shopping.
Fucking hypocrisy. Man i'm worked up. Damn this thread; damn Christmas!

The whole presents thing is because alot of people enjoy giving gifts to others. I personally don't care at all if I get anything. I'm at
the point in my life where I just don't give a fuck. However, I still enjoy getting gifts for others. I never understood the whole 'get
every friend and family member you know a present' thing, but I enjoy getting gifts for my girlfriend and parents...and that's all. Surely
you can understand that.
I'm getting the feeling your countries views on the holiday are different than North America. Most people take it extremely seriously here, and
especially if you're religious...which alot of people are. Even when I was younger and all I could think about was presents, I still really
enjoyed the Christian part of the holiday. It was actually the one time of year I enjoyed going to Church.
I do see where you are coming from. I have become quite bitter at alot of things that have to do with Christmas in my later years, but I try and throw
that aside and focus on the few great things that the holiday provides.

I can appreciate that some people genuinely celebrate Christmas for selfless reasons because of their religion (of which alot in the US do). But
that's my point - the overwhelming majority of the UK isn't religious. At all. Yet it's still widely celebrated.
I'm not one of those anti-establishment punk rock loving lunitics, far from it, but to me Christmas symbolizes the Western world's
superiority over the rest of the world. And it's sickening.
I find it hard to celebrate it and suck my own dick when I know there are still homeless people out on the streets, five year old daughters still
getting raped by their dads and people still starving to death in other parts of the world.
But yeah. Let's forget that unimportant bullshit and revel in our own self-importance for a month.

What does that prove? I'm supposedly Christian but i'm fucked if I believe in God or go to church. That's true religion, not just
the group you or your parents state you follow.
Find me a page of statistics that tells me that all 41,014,811 Christians attend church regularly or will attend on Christmas day and i'll drop
my statement that the UK isn't a religious country.
Even if/when that happens, i'll still maintain Christmas is a heap of crap.

i can't speak for those 41014811 guys who put christian down on the census (i believe chris and i did not), but even chris and i go to church on
christmas eve every year.
i'd prefer not to actually, but it keeps the parents happy.

It doesn't affect me any more or less during the holiday season. Just people are more willing to forget that it happens while they are all warm
and cosy spending shitloads of better spent money, and it bothers me.

To be honest I agree with Hyde, Christmas is a time for commercialism, nothing else. People continue to do the presents thing because it's
become the norm, try something new and you get chastised for it. Nobody actually cares about Christmas, or what it means. Not that it ever really
meant anything in the first place, so I guess it's where it's always been, a way for people to make money off the public.

This is a false statement. Yes, the vast majority of people celebrate this for the wrong reasons, but trust me, man, there are alot of people that
care about the true meaning of Christmas. Alot of my family take it extremely seriously, and don't even exchange gifts. At my one family
Christmas, we spend most of the time singing and reading bible passages. I don't enjoy it, but that's how alot of people are. I,
personally, don't take it to that degree, but at least I do care about the meaning of the Holiday. And whether it actually has meaning obviously
comes down to what you believe in your life and how you were raised.

well my family is non-religious, so i guess you could say we don't celebrate christmas for the reasons that it was meant to be celebrated. we
just find it as some time off our regular daily scheduals, and we spend time with friends and family, and exchange gifts to show our appreciation
toward those close to us... is that really so wrong?

I'm a huge Christmas fan, but my buddy raised an interesting point the other day....
If you like/love someone so much, why only purchase gifts for them on one particular day?

(Doctor talking to Rudolph the red nose reindeer....)
-----------------
Doctor: Well Rudolph, we've finally figured out what makes your nose red.
Rudolph: Is it pixy dust or a leprechaun tail?
Doctor: No, it's a tumor.
Rudolph: You mean like a magical Christmas tumor?
Doctor: No, it's a malignant tumor, the base of which is lodged deep within your brain.
Rudolph: Oh..Like a happy, special...
Doctor: You're going to die.
you won't let me down...

I don't get it. How can a little stuffed, lifeless toy get a tumor? Let alone a malignant tumor....
If I ever go down in history, I want to come back as a happy tumor. One that brings lots of good stuff to people. I.E- Nice mountain bikes, Toys,
Clothes and Kenda's Nevegal tires. Wait, isn't Santa Claus just that?
