I skipped over most of the posts on this topic.. I'm sure there was valid points/thoughts. Just wanted to say this:

If we all put as much though into the here and now as we do the future, the world would be a much better place. We might not have hi tech gadgets to escape the world, but the world just might be tolerable enough that we wouldn't need to.

Hopefully you're right dagger.

Have you ever seen the movie "strange days" or "the thirteenth floor", sin? Both of those movies (as far as I can recall) deal with a similar topic to what we are talking about. You may enjoy them. I recall loving those movies when I was younger.

Another idea for the topic: What about schooling? How much do you think it is going to change in the future? I have a feeling the way school works is alot different from even when I went to school. When I went to school, I can't recall ever using a computer unless it was for a typing class. How much are computers incorporated in the classroom now? Do you think the traditional teacher could be replaced? Sort of like in The Simpsons episode when all the kids are learning from a video screen and troy mclure is the teacher (God, I refer to cartoons and televison way too much...it's sad really).

I don't think it would be too bad of a thing if TV screens were part of the classroom more frequently. I know I always paid more attention in class if we watched a video. I think most people learn better with visual's, anyway.

"the thirteenth floor"...

That movie scared me the first time I watched it. Then again, I was 8 at the time...
Since then I became scared of elevators, and hotels..oh, and shadows behind you carrying an axe, of course.
Wait..are we talking about the same movie? I hope so...if not my translation is completely off. :s

I'm not too sure about computers/tvs in every classroom, there are some subjects where they simply shouldn't apply (maths and english being the two I can think of for now). It is useful to an extent but the thing with videos and such, in my experince, is not everyone bothers to actually pay attention, especially when it's only shown once. I think that relates more to the attention span of some people and I guess, in hindsight, I did tend to learn more from videos, hell I still remember a few of the videos I watched in VCE. I'd say the amount of technology they have in schools now is adequate, I wouldn't think it needs to be heightened, but I'm pretty sure in the future it will be.

in the future, the richers will get richer and the poorer will get poorer. Thats how it seems anyways. Prices are always oing up. Nothing nthe economy for canadians ever gets better. it seems like we are eventually going to run face first into the ground. as wealth goes up i believe morals go down too. I could see slaves being brought back. they wouldn't call them that of course, but thats pretty much what it ould be like. people who can't afford to live o ntheir own because everything is so expensive, that they work completely for someone else just for a room n their house. i donno maybe im not making any sense

there are so many problems in tis world, i don't see how anything could get better. I pity our great grand children, and their grandchildren. problems with popultaion, economy, evironmental, and even more political. Its depressing. but then again, i know noting

so i'll leave it to one of the smart people to either expand this or just tell me toshut up

First of all, you are just as smart as anyone else here...I mean, have you seen the second quote on my signature lately? Guess where that came from?
No putdowns. Everyone has the same chance of saying something meaningful on this thread, you did a swell job dear.

As much as I do fear for the longer generations, perhaps it is time that we start making changes to the world we live in today,so that our children and grandkids won't have to live in an unpleasant society and environment.

It's a classic quote, what can I say. *shrug*
Gotta give credit to the author and creator of it though..

You post as you feel comfortable. No one judges another on this site when it comes to intellect*, you know that. Every single little opinion matters hun.

*note:Okay,so maybe some people are judged...but not you.

I agree 100%, the financial gap is getting bigger and bigger, especially here in Oz, it's downright ludicrous how much money the rich have when compared to the lower and even middle classes which are drastically getting poorer and poorer and the only solution the government can come up with? Lower taxes for the people earning over 50 grand a year.

I'm scared that there will be another Hitler, and another Holocaust. More killing...more death and destruction...more tears and sadness. I'm scared about cloning...what if they find a way to bring back the world's worst villans?

..I'm such a sap. I know.

All of my life..will I believe?
