Toronto is a very small part of Canada for your information. We are the 2nd largest territory in the world.

But asia isn't a country, and canada is. Thus i eliminated the need to specify which countries and cities were affected in asia.

and why do residential canadians (yes, i am canadian and british) always boast about being the 2nd largest land mass?

in terms of the population of canada, greater area of toronto clocks in at around 6million, or around 20% of canada. which means that population wise, a substantial area of canada was affected.

although, i will agree, the whole SARS frenzy was exaggerated no end by the media. i think canadians in the toronto area had around a 0.006% chance of catching the virus.

anyway, my point was that Streetvilles homeless guy had the geography wrong. let's not get into specifics.

I get what you're saying Chris about the population deal and how it's disproportionate, but even you recognized the fact that you'd have a very low chance of getting SARS in Toronto.

Canadians always talk about being the 2nd biggest because we don't have much to brag about..... Oh wait, yes we Do!

- Our universal health care system is recognized as being one of the best in the world

- Ontario alone is outpacing all G7 nations in economic growth per capita.

- We consistantly beat most other countries at hockey

- Our standard of living has been ranked among the top 10 in the world by the United Nations for god knows how long.

- Toronto is the most multi-cultural city in the world.

- Yonge street is the longest street in the world. Originating in Toronto and ending at Hudson Bay.

- Our peacekeepers have been internationally recognized for their work in places such as Afghanistan and Somalia.

- We have built the safest Nuclear reactor in the world, the CANDU.

- We are the originators/supporters of such international treaties as: The landmine abolition treaty and the Kyoto accord.

Boom.

And those countries in Asia constitute a small geographic area.

jeff - i love the post. anyway, i think to reach a mutual agreement we will say that;

"A geographically small area of Canada and multiple countries in Asia, also constituting a small geographical area, were affected by SARS."
