Google Satellite Images

http://maps.google.com/

Am I the only one that just learned about this? For anyone noob like me, basically if you go to that site, click "satellite" and punch in your postal/zip code, you can see a satellite image of your house. You can zoon in pretty damn far, too. Enough that you can see which one of your neighbours have pools or not.

If you get here: http://perljam.net/notes/interesting-google-satellite-maps/ it gives you some direct links to some famous places around the world.

Check it out if you're interested.

i know, it's almost 9 square bolcks.

waht i did is a took a screenshot, and then pasted it in photoshop, drew on it, and then saved it as a jpg

on a pc, you can just press the 'print screen' buton, and the paste it in some sort of image editing program, i think. at least that's how i do it at school.

I would hate to go to a school that big, unless they gave out golf buggies. Then I'd go to the school, but probably not to class because I'd be having too much fun.

This is pissing me off. None of the "F" buttons or any other rarely used buttons on my keyboard don't work, so I can't "print screen" is there any other way to do this with windows? I get one option in my internet browser, but it only saves about 1/10th of the actual image.

Little help.

PIS, my guess is that it is illegal, but that shouldn't stop you.

Reivax, is there a "Sys Rq" button in the top right corner? it should be next to "Scroll Lock". try that, and then paste in some sort of image editing program. if that doesn't work, i dont know what to say.

Yeah, only certain places work, Jorge.

Yeah, I have that button, but it doesn't work. None of these buttons have ever worked.

i believe the law says something like: motorized vehicals are to only be driven on the road (in the case of sidewalks vs roadways, off-road stuff is dif story) sidewalks are for pedestrians. in which case if you attempted to drive a golf cart down the road you would have to make it street legal, ie: turn signals, break lights (they may already have breaklights, i dunno, i don't golf), headlights etc...

other than that you only need to worry about the embarrasment of driving a vehical that 9 year olds can walk faster than.

i did save a pic of it or nothing, but when i use this thing to look at my old highschool i see where parts that are built now aren't built in the picture so i'm guessing these shots are like 2 years or so old

i've gotta save this pic i think i can see my truck O.o i used to work at NAPA which was right next to my highschool and its hard to tell but I think I can see my truck in the parking lot at NAPA. and the car pulling out of the driveway would be me delivering parts most likely

I think all the pics are random. Some old and some not so old.

Examples. My elementary school was torn down late last summer or early fall and the school is not in the satellite image. It's just pavement and a feild. They're still building the houses in that spot. So, I'm guessing the Burlington image is about 7 or 8 months old.

Amazigly google has added the whole west side of Burlington today. It wasn't viewable yesterday.

Another example is at Niagara falls. The picture doesn't have the new casino in it, and they started building that over 4 years ago. It looks like they are only at the beginning stages of the building.
