Everyone has to check this thread.

Now that I've got your attention I have a question for you.

How many of you keep journals or books of your thoughts, stories, poetry, lyrics, drawings etc?

This was brought on by the travelling journal thread and the fact that I've been the only male to post in the thread. Now, I know that there havn't been too many replies to that thread yet but it got me thinking about how many males versus females keep journals.

I've known many girls who keep 'diaries' but the only guys I know who keep journals are my best friends (the guys in my band). If it is true that more females keep journals than males, why do you people think that is?

I wish I had kept all the lyrics I wrote.. I counted all of the songs I wrote a few years back and had over 100! Sure most of em were crap, but it'd still be nice to see how I matured as a writer

I keep a journal.
It's really not a diary..because that would involve the typical "Dear Diary...blah blah blah, I can trust YOU because you're almost like a person..blah blah...goodbye for now" thing...and I don't do that.
On my journal, I'll write on it at whatever time of the day, sometimes in between classes, and I'll just vent out my feelings on certain things..or if I'm in the mood for writing a song, I'll do that..or at least write some lines...sometimes when I'm in a 'creative' mood I'll create some type of artwork and add it onto it...then sometimes I'll glue/staple clean wrappers of things..or receipts, or flyers..something meaningful..

My journal has so much stuff in it, it's turning into a mini-scrapbook, and I love that...we need to put a rubber band around it to keep it closed.

I think some guys do have diaries/journals, they're just somehow afraid to admit it....though I personally don't consider it 'girly' at all. It should be an equivalent thing between males and females, and I find mine kinda therapeutic haha.

Sometimes I will write stuff down. Nothing I would call a journal, and nothing on a regular basis either.

i used to keep a journal but now i just write stuff down if there's something major going on. i can't do the every day diary thing. it kind of bores me. but if i'm in a certain mood i'll write stuff down or draw or whatever. it's not a regular thing though. and i definitely think girls do it more than guys.

Nope. I don't write anything down. Never have. I used to sometimes write about my day and how I was feelings when I didn't see my girlfriend very often. But those were letters for her.

When I was younger, I drew alot. I tried to find some of my old drawings the other day, but I could only find one, plus some paintings I did when I was in high school. I was really nuts about drawing and art, but it sort of deteriorated when I was a teenager. Most of my passion for art turned into a passion for music...something I am better at, anyway.

Cool, man. I hope your love of film continues to grow. Maybe I'll see your name in the credits of a movie one day.

I keep a journal that I used to write in everyday...now I just use it when I need to vent, but don't want to have to talk to someone else about things...I think for the most part girls are just more outwardly emotional than guys are, and that's why we tend to keep journals more....just a thought

I remember keeping one as a crazed child. I used to write the most wacked out stories in my favorite Martin Broduer (sp?) covered pad of paper. It was hawt. I wrote this one story called 'The Crazy Cookiemonster'. I actually read it right before I came onto this site, surprisingly enough.

Anywho, off to bed for me...

When I was in grade 1 my teacher made us keep a journal. I used to think that for spelling you only had to write the first letter of every word and when people read it they would understand what you were talking about.....so if I wanted to say something like "I took my dog for a walk" I would write down "I t m d f a w". I wasn't the brightest crayon in the box.

The night's as hot as hell. It's a lousy room in a lousy part of a lousy town - I'm staring at a goddess. She's telling me she wants me. I'm not going to waste one more minute wondering how I've gotten this lucky. She smells like angels ought to smell, the perfect woman... the Goddess. Goldie. She says her name is Goldie.
