I don't see that there is anything wrong with downloading the odd song or two, but I don't like it when people start downloading whole albums, just because they are cheap scabs.

I download songs to hear material by bands I am recommended, or to get an idea of what an album sounds like before I buy it.

i'm sorry, but in the uk music is just overpriced. why should we pay 15 pounds for an album when the same album in canada costs 15 bucks?

don't give me bullshit about production costs, i know how much work it is and what is involved.

it's just downright extortion

Then buy it from cheap internet sites such as Play.com. £8.99 for most CD's and free P&P.

99.9% of people have access to the use of a credit card, whether it be their own or their parents.

i buy most of my music after i've downloaded it from Kazaa and noted that its decent. I dont think you can really say you support a band unless you've got the shiny piece of plastic to prove it

Steveo got the idea.
I enjoy finding decent music through kazaa but then you can go out and get the whole thing on a c.d.
Magic!

I reckon without kazaa, I wouldnt have found out about half as many bands as I have.

But yeah, I like to buy the shiny stuff just so I dont feel bad.

I always fucking scatch them though !

and Cd cases look nice

yeah, a cd collection is more impressive then seeing how many gigabyets you have of music you have on your computer. Having said that ifyou have loads of music on your computer that is still respectful

Kazaa lite is the way to go if you are going to download with style. It's very much like morpheus, but with out the adds and spyware....don't mistake this with regualr Kazaa....Kazaa lite has no adds and spyware. This makes everything alot smoother.

A new trick for kazaa lite is the download for the kazaa lite hack...which brings your level of share look like you have shared over 1000 files...it gives you super fast downloads from more people!

Still, when Napster is back online its that all the way

getting the cd's is a way of supporting the band or artist.
The band has to be the one losing ou though cause before downloading music people must have had to spend money just to see if they like it.

true true.
kazaa lite. not kazaa.
kazaa saves a load of crap to your computer without asking you. when i had it, i suddenly found new programs i had never heard of on my start menu every few days. made a right mess of my computer.
kazaa lite is a lot quicker - no fuss, and it's the same otherwise. www.kazaalite.com

teh suxs is a wise man. you would do well to listen.

I posted this exact same thing on the Walker's Line Forum:

I'll keep this real simple. If you're going to make any money off that downloaded/burned music and/or NEVER support the artist in any other fashion (buy an ep, t-shirt, sticker, attend a live show) then it should be illegal. End of story.

if you use kazaa for its real purpose, listening to some music that you like then it can't be bad. fair enough if your out to make a profit from it then it can't be a good thing.

kazaa is an amazing tool, sorry k-lite,
without it i wouldn't know of half the bands i listen to now including the livid.

if any of you want to get movies when they just come out though its better to look into something such as DC++ or IRC to avoid all the bullshit file naming.
