communism isn't such a bad idea. it's just flawed by human ambition.

I get music in order to check out new acts, talent, and then usually go and buy the albums if i like it. its a process of evaluation.

it would work if everyone was happy to
1) work their ass off
2) get paid the same as everyone else
3) have no desire to drive a fast car

Communism is turd.

Some people can be arsed and have the motivation to make something of themselves, through years of hard work. I don't see why slackers who can't be arsed should be entitled to the same paycheck.

that's pretty much what i was getting at. but i think that it is important to note that every system has a flaw, even the capitalist way of life that we are used to.

Kazaa is very handy, a) it got me The Livid (hooray for the people who thought Falling Behind was by Incubus) and b) it's an effective way of test driving a cd/band. Much like mp3.com though on a much larger scale.

I tend to download a track or two when someone suggests a band to me, and then stop and decide to buy the album if I like it. The problem is, I'm always far too lazy to buy the album. So I have a mental struggle of whether to download more tracks (and if I do, I will never buy the album since I already have the tracks, and I'll feel bad about that) or to get my ass in gear. I am usually unable to make up my mind, and so I have two or three tracks each from tons of bands I am interested in. Ah well - at least I get variety this way

then you are A Good Person.
I originally downloaded about 5 The Livid tracks, and loved it so much that I actually did get my ass in gear.
