Does anyone know what kind of guitar Dave Grohl plays?
I just got the new Foo Fighters "Everywhere But Home" live DVD, and on it Dave plays what looks like a clear guitar... well it does have a
wooden neck, and normal pickups and all, but the body is clear, it looks like it is made out of plastic... anyway, i thougth it was really cool, and i
would like to know more about it.
here are some pics:

Ian, if you go to www.ampeg.com>'Dealer Locator'>type in postal code> you should be able to find the nearest dealer.
They're owned by a company called St. Louis Music, who bought them in 1986. So, I'm thinking that they are BASED in probably St. Louis,
Missouri.

Ok, I was digging through some old tapes of mine and I found a video of me and my friend playing guitar. It's from around 2 years ago. We had
this guy living in our house that had access to some video equipment, so I took advantage of it and asked if I could use it to tape us playing. I also
used it in my bed room and just recorded myself playing a few things. It's always interesting watching yourself play.
So I asked my brother if there is a way to get the tape onto computer and he showed me an easy way to do it. I recorded about 5 clips that range from
1-2+ minutes and range from about 5-10 MB's. So it shouldn't take very long at all to download them.
in the first link there is a song I wrote. It's just me sitting in my old room playing my 12 string guitar. Because I just steadied the camera
and had no idea where I would be in the shot, you can't quite see all of the guitar. And the other song is me and my friend Pete playing a bit
of Animal by pearl jam. Since music without words is really boring, I just took the clip of the solo so it would be more interesting to
watch...I'm on the left, btw.
In the second link I am sitting in my room again, playing crystal planet by Joe Satriani. I decided to make it 2 clips, because I didn't want
the one to be too big, and because I don't really know the solo, so I just cut most of it out. I also cut out a bit of the outro and just played
what I know. It's pretty complex and requires 2 guitars anyway.
The third link is me playing winter solstice by tea party on my 12-string. Whenever I saw them play it live, the crowd always went apeshit. It's
a fun song to play and it's pretty tough.
I didn't want to make it into so many links, but I had to because of the size of the files and the amount of free space that I am given.
This took me all morning, so I hope people will take a look. You can just delete it right away. Here are the links:

Well, it turns out that they don't seem to be working too well for anyone who has tried. It works on one of my computer, but not the other..I
guess it requires a certain player. Meh...I'm sure it will work for someone.

I'm really confused about something. John Butler plays a 11 string guitar, basically the G string doesn't have a partner. And the guitar
is designed that way, anyone know why?

The sound quality is probably really good, because I was using a really expensive camera. Something Indie film makers use. It was really beneficial
having that guy live with us. He recorded me and my friend playing for like an hour. I just plugged a VCR into the computer and recorded through the
TV thing we have. It probably lost very little of the original audio quality.
Thanks for the great feedback, people.
I got to say, my 12-string does sound really good, but it normally only sounds really good in an open tuning (like in the video's). It's
great for rhythm guitar, but I don't normally have anyone to play with. It does get boring sometimes. I find alot of the time I take the extra 6
strings off it and use it as a normal acoustic. The one main reason I bought it was because when I played it in the store, I played "the world I
know" by collective soul and I have always wanted to be able to play that song right. It sounded mint and I bought it. It's a pain to tune
and string, too.
About the 11-string...I have no idea. I know I used to play mine with only one high e for a while. It sounded fine and played just as good. I also
find on mine that it doesn't like the second b string. It takes me forever to get it on when I put new strings on, so I have found I played it
with just 11 strings a bunch of times. Could be the same situation with him...he just got used to not having one of them on there.

Well I discovered a new little trick that the British might love. So, if you've ever been running from one of them London police cars, you might
be familiar with this sound.
Hold your 1st finger on the fourth fret, bottom string and keep it there, it should never EVER move.
Then do a series of taps and pull offs onto the 6th fret (same string).. about 2 per second. That should sound like a siren.
How about turning the corner? Just start tapping and pulling on the 5th fret at a rather slower pace.
There you have it, the Arnold trick! I'd imagine that this might come in handy with a lather large amp and a passed out friend. You may scare
the crap out of him while you play that and yell "oh shiite the police are here''.
I hate myself and I want to die.

HMM, epiphones are alright, im curious though are you buying electric or acoustic? I haven't personally tried an epiphone acoustic, im
actually not even 100% sure they make acoustics. I have tried a few ephiphones electrics. They are not bad sounding, their solidely built, they dont
quite have the sound I would personally look for, but it doesn't make it a bad guitar. I'd say your on to a good choice, after all they
are part of gibson guitars.

RIght on, thats key thing, when buying a giutar, you have to like it. The next thing, you may want to have someone with you, to check the set up and
to make sure the store isn't selling you a pre-deffected guitar. I know they get checked but it never hurts to check again. I know I dont
live to far from you, if ever you want me to go with you to the stores, I could give you a hand if u'd like.

Nice, Ian.
I had an epiphone electric at one point. It was a les paul deluxe. It was so fucking heavy. After using light body guitars for a while now, I
can't go back to those heavy ass guitars. Most epiphone electrics are like this. Unless you get an SG. Personally, I don't like
SG's, though. I think they are ugly.
I'd just try everything out that is in your price range and see which feels the best for you.
